THE REVIEW

Nada Malanima is rock!

Despite all the young people who believe that rock is all about guitar riffs and screams.

This lady has traversed decades of Italian music and had the strength to reinvent herself as a singer-songwriter with gritty and controversial lyrics.

In this 2001 album, you'll find powerful stories: the invective against society in "Gesù" ("I saw him, dragging his body through the indifferent crowd, and the blood he shed left marks on the sidewalk"); the life of "Giulia", a resigned prostitute ("Giulia who undresses without resistance, the condition kills the personality"); the darkest confessions in "Meraviglioso" ("mother who doesn't have courage, mother who pisses me off, mother I have no strength left, mother I want to drown you now, now, now and right here"). Words that leave a mark, delicate or desperate poems. In any case, young words, rock words.

I recommend all fans of Marlene Kuntz, Afterhour, Carmen Consoli, and Cristina Donà to listen to this album. After all, it's just 9 songs. 37 minutes of your time. If it works, you've gained something...

If it doesn't work, you can always go back to listening to your young rock after half an hour!
