“’Learn To Leave’ talks about the growth of each person as an individual and the instinct of self-preservation that kicks in when we decide to take care of ourselves, removing ourselves from the toxic situation we've ended up in, whatever it may be”, explains Matt Fitzpatrick, the band’s voice and guitar, who have reached their second studio album. My Iron Lung comes from San Diego, a city that certainly won't be remembered for its incredible music scene, but every now and then offers some pleasant surprises. As in this case, since "Learn To Leave" is an album that will be appreciated by fine-palate rockers, those who, to be clear, do not need terrifying singles to get excited, or at least this is certainly not the classic record destined for them. It indeed takes more than one listen to appreciate these four troubled individuals, as they seemingly enjoy flipping the table repeatedly, leaving the listener puzzled. How?! Through fragments of noise-rock, the most acidic and out-of-control kind that attacks when you least expect it. And believe me, this is fundamentally the peculiarity of this work. Not providing points of reference. Listening to them, they closely recall the more extroverted side of Touché Amoré, as well as the surgical coldness of Pianos Become The Teeth. And to think that at the time of their debut album, they were thought to be just another punk-rock band without glory or shame...
