The Creation nearly faced failure with the recording of this work. Luckily (so to speak), three years later the Oasis arrived to replenish the company’s coffers.
An ambitious, original, and at times objectively brilliant work from the four lads from Dublin led by Kevin Shields, who is practically the author of almost all the songs and lyrics. Screaming guitars and samplers take the forefront to create an intricate forest of sounds from which the distant angelic voice of Belinda Butcher emerges. Dreamy and sweet melodies mix together, creating watercolors that are at times intimate, at times more incisive and dynamic, in a sort of expressionist pop.
If Van Gogh had been a rocker, he would have sounded like this.
This charming and unconventional masterpiece was released three years after “Isn’t Anything”, and in a better world, it would have caused a sensation. It reached 24th place in the UK charts, which is still a great result for a work that is for many, but not for everyone. That was enough for enthusiasts and critics to fall in love with it.
Some tracks may be annoying, but songs like "Loomer", "When You Sleep", "Sometimes", or "What You Want" are archetypal tracks, melodies that tickle the unconscious, unlocking distant memories and unspoken desires. Those of a better world indeed.
After this album, they vanished from the scene (it was the year 1991), leaving fans with regrets, but above all, beautiful memories.
If you have 10 euros to spend, this album is for you.

Listening to this album is undoubtedly the greatest sensory and metaphysical experience a person can have.
