Sometimes, you find yourself battling, in your little room, against dust, which little by little, but consistently, tries to invade your space. In these cases, you have two options (the maid is deliberately excluded for lack of funds): succumb or get busy and spend the afternoon, or worse, the whole day moving, dusting, and putting everything back in place.
Sometimes, you feel like moving a few things here and there, for instance, the stereo, to test out the new setup. And, when evening comes, what to do? Oh yes, let's play some records to see how the new setup is; maybe something relaxing but stimulating, relaxing because I've busted my ass all afternoon; stimulating because I can't help it, I can't just hear, I must listen!
What do I play? I’m not in the mood for bands I've overplayed; I put on a young band that debuted less than six months ago with their first album, the Multicolor. The album in question is perfect for the evening, easy to listen to but not at all trivial; "First Spaceship On Venus" (that’s the name of the album) is fundamentally a pop album, with genuine jazz-blues and psychedelic harmonies in a largely acoustic form; in short, it's that type of pop you can call pop without feeling ashamed of the genre, a parade of 6 tracks that, both in flow and lyrics, truly resemble a journey into the depths of space.
The instrumental and vocal arrangements are well-targeted and clean, every single note is truly in the right place and the emotion comes through even via the stereo.
A piece of advice? Even if you haven’t busted your ass cleaning the room, chopping wood, or hiding a corpse, get the album and listen to it from start to finish, without pauses, let it flow; it truly deserves it!!!
