Adolescent relationships. Emotions, melancholic emotions. More or less faded memories that one tries to set in songs, almost to metabolize them, to make them less painful. This is the authorial humus in which Mr Kite move. However, we are not talking about singer-songwriting. Mr Kite is a full-fledged band. And interestingly, both the musical references (the explicit ones being The Smiths, the hidden ones being new wave and English indie pop) are from a band. Not from overseas, but from Brianza, yet still a band... A band that has been playing together for many years, that has discarded already finished albums in the past, in search of a more or less acceptable perfection. Perfect Mr Kite's album is not... Debut work, it shows all the limitations of a still young band... But Mr Kite are on the right path. With a little less naivety in the lyrics and a hint of more confident appropriation of the English pop and indie genre, they could have quite a story to "tell"... Discover the review

A nice debut from Mr Kite, a band from Brianza active for as many as 8 years but choosing to release their debut album only now... A well-timed decision. Indeed, because the band shows they already have all it takes to compete on a national level. There's a good cohesion between the sounds and vocals. The lyrics could improve, but they are already of a good standard. The ability to write catchy melodies is there, and it's certainly something not everyone possesses. Of course, the melancholy, which feeds both the stories and the atmosphere of the album, probably won't open doors to some talent shows. But the path is clearly not the one Mr Kite aspires to. Mr Kite has its roots deep in English pop. They cite the Smiths, surely not the Backstreet Boys... And so, this good debut album is a great stepping stone for even more engaging albums to come... and why not, even more "bitter sweet," between pop and melancholy. Good luck Mr Kite.
