THE REVIEW

I was surprised when I discovered that there was only one review of the legendary Mr. Big on Debaser. Perhaps one of the most famous bands of the 90s, they wrote great chapters of rock during those years, but unfortunately many people, too many, remember them either for the famous Sheehan-Gilbert duo or for the infamous and sweet "To Be With You", a real springboard for this great band.

The album in question is perhaps one of the band's best (only second to "Hey Man"), and contains the group's most acclaimed classics. Let's say it right away: the album is neither heavy nor hard rock: it's simply a great rock, excellently played.
Who has never heard the irresistible "Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy"? Contained in this album, the opening track is one of the most electrifying and catchy the band has ever written, while the tone becomes more country with the following "Alive & Kickin'". "Green-Tinted Sixties Mind" is sweet and moving; while we return to rockier shores with the next three songs: "Cdff-Lucky This Time", "Voodoo Kiss", "Never Say Never" are a great example of the band's abilities. The same atmosphere is felt in the tracks "My Kinda Woman", "A Little Too Loose", and "Road To Ruin". This cheerful atmosphere is only interrupted by the song "Just Take My Heart", in which the band gives us a great ballad, and by the final and fun "To Be With You" (even if it will be the worldwide trademark of Mr. Big, despite having written much better): an excellent acoustic ballad, with syrupy and almost adolescent lyrics, but captivating.

Eric Martin has a truly beautiful voice, and despite being standard rock, there is also room for the virtuosity of Gilbert and Sheehan, who shine. For those who want a direct, excellently played, and cheerful album, the purchase of "Lean Into It" is warmly recommended.
