THE REVIEW

It only took me a few days to digest this debut by the Parma-based Moth's Circle Flight, which highlights a great desire to emerge, and frankly, they have all the means. Of course, being a sort of self-production, with the help of Zero Music Factory of Vicenza, we can't expect a one hundred percent professional production. Indeed, some sounds could be slightly improved, but nevertheless, the Emilian band shows us they have quite clear ideas and know well when it's time to hit hard or to slow down for more reflective solutions. However, don't expect an elaborate melodic setup.

Overall, 'Born To Burn' is a rather direct album that manages to engage already from the first listens with its crossover riffs also influenced by hardcore, with slowdowns ranging up to alternative metal and many sudden breaks. The vocals are furious and full of anger but also capable of navigating clean vocals in more melodic and sweet passages, with lyrics in Italian and English. We can therefore frame the band as a mix between Downthesun, Otep, Snot, Coal Chamber, and Biohazard.

Among the 14 songs, we can mention the opener 'Anxiety', decidedly more hardcore than the others, the groovy 'Worm' with its damned off-beats, and the explosive 'No Excuse', which perhaps slightly reminds us of Primus for its sick spirit.

Moth's Circle Flight is a young local reality, and I believe that nostalgic people from the late 90s and early 2000s should listen to this "Born To Burn", an album that recalls some of the early gems of the nu-metal scene. Sure, we don't have any novelties before us, but 'Born To Burn' will certainly be an excellent starting point, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear from them soon with another good quality full-length.
