Shameful: and my review could end there. But since I want to give an idea of why I'm giving such a harsh judgment, I'm afraid I will go on for a little while longer, although I think it's giving way too much importance to this duo of unhinged New Yorkers. Only deranged individuals could think of forming a Brutal band as a duo and at the same time actually make music: in fact, they haven't achieved one of the two goals.
The proposal would be a Brutal Gore, a pity there's only Gore (in the lyrics) but the Brutal (in the music) is missing. And don't tell me this is an extreme work, because then you're a bit confused between the meaning of the word "extremism" and that of the word "approximation." It's an approximate work, in which the songs are indistinguishable from one another because the two haven't made the slightest effort to modify their composition: even the Napalm Death of "Scum," who were certainly not good musicians, made an effort to structure and give a shape to all their songs. An ultra-distorted and damn static bass accompanies a guitar that seems to repeat the same riff throughout the album in at most two or three variations while the compositions proceed slowly until halfway: after which the electronic drum kicks in with a blast beat that only stops at the end of the song (and we're lucky they don't continue afterward). Out of seventeen songs, I believe about twelve unfold in this way (and I'm not exaggerating).
Honestly, I don't think it's in bad faith and that these two primates released "Domain Of Death" for commercial purposes, indeed, I believe they are proud of this work and of having made seventeen songs all identical to each other and to those of the other albums due to their obtuseness. After all, one cannot expect much from people who in ten years of career haven't taken the trouble to find a drummer and go on with the Drum Machine! The only redeeming note, besides a couple of decent riffs, is the voice of the singer-bassist Will Rahmer, much deeper and more cavernous than that of other vocalists in the genre. However, it doesn't save the ensemble which is truly pathetic and I don't know who might like it: if you want a rotten and extreme album turn to Autopsy or early Carcass, who at least sound good. If instead, you are looking for a low-quality product for a few laughs reading the lyrics (all the same, read to believe) or listening to the tackiest intros in the world (based on Horror movie samples including "Profondo rosso"), this album is for you, but maybe a circus ticket or for "Natale a Miami" costs less... well maybe I exaggerated a bit... rather than "Natale a Miami" buy "Domain Of Death"!!
