THE REVIEW

The Mortician are a somewhat... "strange" band! They have never changed their music one bit, they are very fond of horror-splatter cinema and, of course, the lyrics speak for themselves: corpses, zombies, dismemberments, putrid and rotten blood.
Besides this, the New York band has been playing death-grind for years and uses a drum machine (I think they might be the only band to have remained faithful to programmed drums) composed at extremely high, almost inhuman speeds.

This CD is exactly the same as the other products by the two band members, neither more nor less, without any kind of different musical influences or effects. Will Rahmer on vocals, as always guttural, and on bass, while Roger Beaujard on guitar, tuned 8 tones down.
In the bass parts while listening to them (in those few bits where you can hear it) it's impossible to differentiate one note from another... the whole thing recorded roughly, as rough as it gets.

Despite everything, I admire this band just for the fact that they keep going, playing their music in their own style without caring about anyone else. For the band's fans and this type of musicality, the rating is eight, but for others, barely a pass.

Summary by Bot

Mortician's Darkest Day of Horror remains consistent with their signature death-grind style, featuring programmed drums at high speeds and horror-themed lyrics. The band's sound and approach have not evolved, maintaining a raw and brutal production. Fans of the band will appreciate this steadfast style, though it may not appeal to others. The review respects their dedication despite the lack of innovation.

Potter's Bluff, the town of death
Smell of decomposing flesh
Townspeople are living dead
Chopping, hacking you to death
Friendly people have you met
Are they real or are they dead?
Enter, you will meet your end
Boulder smashes in your head
Beaten, tied and burned alive
Needle stuck into your eye
Mortician bringing new life
Thoughts of a demented mind
Now you learn that you have died
Horrified, you're still alive

Mortician

Mortician are an American extreme metal duo from Yonkers, New York, formed in 1989 by Will Rahmer (vocals, bass) and Roger J. Beaujard (guitars, drum programming). Known for gore-soaked themes, horror-film samples, and programmed blastbeats, they helped shape the goregrind/deathgrind niche with ultra-low tuning and cavernous vocals.
