A hardcore band known for emotionally intense albums that center on heartbreak, catharsis and strong vocal delivery.

Reviews credit James Matthews as the band's vocalist. Albums discussed in reviews include Love Let Me Go (referenced as ending in 2010) and What's Left Of Me (2014). The band's sound is described primarily as hardcore with moments of melodic and post-rock influence.

Reviews (both 5/5) praise More Than Life for emotionally intense hardcore rooted albums. James Matthews's vocal delivery and lyrical focus on heartbreak and recovery are repeatedly highlighted. Love Let Me Go is described as claustrophobic and cathartic; What's Left Of Me shows clearer production and melodic growth.

For:Fans of hardcore and emotionally intense, lyrically driven music; readers of in-depth album criticism.

The base is certainly hardcore, but More Than Life is only interested in Swiss rhythms to a certain point.

The band intelligently inserts various expedients that make the entire listening experience smooth and flowing, convincing both when they switch gears with a classic 4/4 rhythm as in “You're Not Alone” and in the first half of the finale “Love Is Not Enough”, and when they show a new melodic side: the almost post-rock of “Threshold” (even sung!), the airy opening of the cathartic title track, the second part of the already mentioned “Love Is Not Enough”, a duet between acoustics and soft violins.
