Artistic post-space knights set amplifiers ablaze with thunderous rhythms and effect-driven games.
They are Monkey 3 and they come from Switzerland.
Meticulously, they raze your idea of Space Psychedelia, constructing it according to either cosmic Dutch dictates or purely American sources. They shuffle the cards, transitioning from fuzz to soft expansions, combining the fluidity of certain dreamlike digressions with a full-bodied and virulent rhythmic section, never tamed.
The lack of legitimate and original inspiration is overcome by the average quality of the tracks, never too out of focus and gifted with a good groove. The pitch-black distortions of "Bimbo" draw a direct line between the grooves of the record and the listener's brain, just as the almost Funk charge of "Narcotic Jam" ends up stirring their synapses. And if "35007" (where an all-too-evident homage appears) does nothing but numb and stupefy, the anti-cosmic delirium of "Darkman's Nose" will think of bringing you back down to space.
In a cohesive and concise manner, Monkey 3 gets to the point, crushing every atom of musicality, with the claim of being able to give a lot and say a lot.
And they would have succeeded if only 35007 had never been born.
