The Profile

Money Mark (Mark Ramos Nishita) is an American keyboardist, composer, and producer known for his work with the Beastie Boys and for eclectic solo albums spanning funk, electronica, and instrumental pop, including Mark’s Keyboard Repair (1995, Mo’ Wax), Push the Button (1998), Change Is Coming (2001), and Brand New by Tomorrow (2007).

Birth name: Mark Ramos Nishita. American musician and producer. Longtime collaborator with the Beastie Boys. Known for Hammond and vintage keyboard repair and use. Solo debut Mark’s Keyboard Repair released on Mo’ Wax in 1995. Collaborations include Beck and Cornelius.

A single DeBaser review of Money Mark’s Change Is Coming highlights his vintage keyboard obsession, groove-first instrumentals, and a polished blend of electronic and ‘real’ instruments. Funk leads, with Latin and jazzy shades. Vocals are mostly absent—and not missed. It’s less experimental than early Mo’ Wax days, but fluid, classy, and inviting.
