LA RECENSIONE

As an appetizer before the main course, his new work, "Time To Destroy," due in the coming months, Nick Olivieri releases this small EP with his Mondo Generator, following in the footsteps of his previous solo album "Death Acoustic".

With the only exception being the title track, a highly successful cover of Iggy Pop with the wild Dave Grohl on drums, "Dog Food" is an entirely acoustic work, lasting about twenty minutes, all filled with Olivieri's pounding guitar and savage growls. There are several quite interesting other covers, such as the familiar "Green Machine" or the quirky "Dungaree High" by Turbonegro and "Endless Vacation" by the Ramones. More standard are the only two original compositions on the EP, "This Isn't Love" and "Smashed Apart," which I hope we'll find in complete versions with all the instruments. To sum it all up, it seems our favorite bassist locked himself in his room one day and started playing whatever came to mind, without noticing the recorder was on.

In short, Nick Olivieri literally serves us dog food. I won't deny that it's quite tasty, but it's short-lived and only makes the mouth water.

Exactly.
