I love metal a lot, but I didn't really know much about true Glam. I mostly listened (and still listen) to heavy metal and hard rock and, honestly, I wasn't very attracted to this genre which I had heard a lot about. But one day, I happened to listen to a song by Mötley Crüe: Dr. Feelgood. This is one of Mötley’s best songs, if not the best, and I consider myself lucky to have listened to that one. I was struck by its daring rhythm and the undeniable skills of their singer, Vince Neil.
From there, I can say that I developed my passion for this genre and also for the band itself. Decade Of Decadence is a collection that gathers their greatest hits from 1981 to '91, from "Too Fast For Love" to "Dr. Feelgood". We can listen to songs from "Live Wire" to "Smokin' in the Boys Room", from "Looks That Kill" to the Sex Pistols cover "Anarchy in the UK". This collection lets us feel the great times of the Crue before their decline, delighting us with their rhythm as well as their musical abilities. It's true, though, that the Crue and Glam in general can't be defined as a genre with particularly elaborate music from an instrumental and technical point of view, but sometimes to change the music you listen to a bit, this genre becomes enjoyable. The CD also contains the live version of "Kickstart My Heart", one of the most energetic and beautiful songs ever composed by Mötley Crüe. The power ballads are not missing, like "Home Sweet Home" and "Angela".
If you don't know the band and want to get to know them, this is definitely the album for you. All their greatest hits are contained in this Decade of Decadence '81-'91.
