Modwheelmood is the solo project of Italian multi-instrumentalist Alessandro Cortini (born 1976). Cortini moved to Los Angeles in 1999, joined Nine Inch Nails as a keyboardist in 2005, and released several EPs including the Pearls to Pigs series.

First EPs appeared in the early 2000s (the duo Gift/ ? EP in 2003), Enemies & Immigrants (2007) and the Pearls to Pigs trilogy (volumes released in 2007–2008) are discussed in the DeBaser review. Collaborations and remix work with Trent Reznor are mentioned in the review.
