THE REVIEW

Another great release for the "modest mouse"; this time an EP consisting of 8 tracks to listen to all in one go. 8 beautiful tracks, put together a few years ago; definitely enjoyable to listen to even for those who are not particularly fond of this band. They skillfully blend music similar to what was composed on previous CDs with rock parentheses (very wide) that clearly approach the indie scene. Everything sounds very similar from one track to another, yet without ever boring the listener.

It starts with "Satellite Skin" where Isaac Brock's screams are immediately noticeable; then it continues with "Guilty Cocker Spaniel", where very "friendly" and "fun" guitars can be savored, accompanied in the choruses (if they can be called that) by very engaging distorted riffs; more tranquil is "Autumn Beds", with a constantly present banjo, and the presence of the kazoo is also wonderful. Also noteworthy is the kinship with the sea that Modest Mouse has (Dashboard), just listen to "The Whale Song" (the name says it all): first 3 instrumental minutes, that is, the usual mix of guitars, where one of them seems to "wag"; after that, everything calms down while remaining very lively, and it is here that Brock starts to sing with the usual choir to support him, the track ends with a wonderful shoegaze movement. This is definitely the central chapter of the EP.

Then comes "Perpetual Motion Machine", which almost seems like a circus show; as well as "King Rat", which starts with a powerful trumpet similar to an elephant's trumpet blast, the track then takes delightful melodic paths eventually leading to the trumpet being in the foreground. The EP concludes with the almost pop-rock song "I've Got It All(Most)", with its chorus full of distorted guitars.

Well, there's nothing else to say, I will just state that after this EP I deeply hate cats, I much prefer mice!
