Modaxì (Adesso_così) from Bari, the city of Daddario, the healthcare scandals, and the football talent (now emigrated) Cassano (whom everyone wants in the national team except one), a pop smoothie like this city that evokes in the national collective imagination an idea of disorder, illegality, intrigue, a city-country that reflects a nation, ours.
"Caught red-handed" is actually the name of this first CD by Modaxì. The lyrics are undoubtedly a foundational part, and the expectations of the title are not disappointed because Danilo's lyrics dive right into the depths of the "imagined smoothie" only to resurface like pieces of banana, with the irony of someone who has internalized certain deviant aspects of our Italian society for years, turns them into virtues (so to speak) and spits out yet another portrait of the real country exactly as it is. There's the small to medium bourgeois aspiring to climb the social ladder without financial coverage, there's the young perpetual student finding refuge in the bit of thrill he can afford, a CD that talks about the crisis that, in the meantime, exists, its actors, their attitudes...
Pop, power-pop, banana-pop, Modaxì are pop, I'll say it again, the mix of multiple styles is something they've pulled off quite well, they are definitely cool, even the booklet of their digipack, assembled by another brain that escaped to the Milan that drinks itself to death (so they say), is also cool, recalling the iconic signage from airport signs, giving it the task of telling page by page the parabola of the CD (support) abandoned among the trash that returns after twists and turns to the owner. A nod to recycling and finally a de-personalizing attitude, the band members graphically represented by the omino-tiromancino even on their MySpace (eureka!), posed photos have (for the moment) been set aside much to the peace of mind of the faithful to r'n'r stylistic elements.
If you haven't listened to them yet, you really should, even a certain Caparezza understood this and even "put his face on it" by appearing in the music video for the single "Lastrico".
