THE REVIEW

The most immediate association with Billy Milano is with SOD (Stormtroopers of Death), perhaps because it is the band with which he achieved the most success, undoubtedly also because he was accompanied by a great guitarist like Scott Ian, not to mention the other musicians. However, in my opinion, the true uncensored soul of Billy Milano emerges even more with MOD (Method of Destruction).

"USA for MOD" is the first album of the band, recorded in 1987 in a very short time, and to hear it, you wouldn't think so. Musically, it is powerful and fresh, played without glitches, raw and aggressive. The songs are not long, in fact some just reach ten seconds, but labeling this work as Hardcore would be sheer nonsense. I have always been against assigning genres to albums of valid bands, I believe that a true band doesn't need that, their uniqueness lies in the right amount of particular innovation not present in any other formation.

Indeed, MOD has been given countless labels, from thrash, to hardcore, the same thrashcore, from heavy metal to Nu metal, punk, OI!, even death metal. There are no explanations; MOD makes the genre that only MOD does. As for the content, there are no words, they are extreme in every sense. Many themes are touched upon: violence is spoken of, society is attacked, topics touching on racism, sexism, and from time to time laced with a suitable amount of absurdity. Among the more well-known songs, you can find "Get a Real Job", later redone with SOD, the uncomfortable "A.I.D.S.", or "Don't feed the bears".

It's useless to say who I could recommend this album to, a word to the wise is enough.
