The Miura are a testament that the so-called "second fiddles," even in music, are very often the true soul of a group. At this point, many of you may be wondering who these people are? The Miura is the group formed by the rhythm section of Timoria following the breakup. Diego Galeri and Illorca, respectively drummer and bassist of the Brescia band, among the leading figures of Italian rock in the nineties, arrive with this "Croci" at the second recording effort of their new project.

If the two leaders of Timoria, Pedrini and Renga, attempted pop success, with little fortune for the former and with overwhelming approval (besides the great voice sometimes inexplicable) for the latter, Galeri and Illorca unite their forces with Killa, already guitarist in the great Alligator and Zona, and in 2005 they churn out the debut "In testa," an album worthy of mention but somehow overlooked. Interesting lyrics, melodic yet edgy rock, open to the most disparate influences, grunge, psychedelia, stoner, and funk mixed as the best Timoria knew how to do.

Unfortunately, fate played a nasty trick on Miura, right before the album's release, a bad car accident involved the two former Timoria members. Galeri was almost unscathed, but for Illorca the situation was more serious than anticipated. He remained in a coma for a long period. Even today, his conditions are not the best, but it seems he is slowly recovering. This accident meant a suspension of the group's activities and projects, few live performances to promote the album, and it is known how vital live presence is for a band nowadays.

Three years of hard work put Miura back on track. A new singer was recruited, Max Tordini (formerly of Mesas), to replace the previous Jack, with the contribution of several bassists (including Clemente of Deasonika, Mirko Venturelli of Giardini di Mirò, Marcello Todde of Matra) and the great Giorgio Canali as artistic producer. Miura released a second work that confirms the promising start the debut hinted at. The rock-stoner with psychedelic spikes coexist perfectly such as the opening "Linea di confine", the critique of mass-media TV in "Semidei" and the harsh, especially in the lyrics, "(Quello che volevi) L'uomo buono".

The single M.A.I.A., a melodic rock song with the contrast between Tordini's male voice and the female guest Lubjan's (also featured in the track "Vile"), with a bit of luck could have become a good hit. Other welcome guests include Moltheni, lending his voice, and Pietro Canali playing piano and Wurlitzer in the moving and dramatic "Scompaio". Noteworthy is also the cover of "Il cielo in una stanza" by Gino Paoli reinterpreted with a rock and dark twist, and "Sassi" (April 2007), written entirely by Illorca, who with this song gives an important sign of recovery and rebirth. I think that what the group wants most right now is the full recovery of the bassist to give a new start to this project unfortunately unnoticed by the general public.
