Miss Kittin is the Electroclash icon par excellence. After THE ALBUM (not an album, but THE ALBUM) of the genre par excellence, namely First Album, in collaboration with The Hacker and thanks to fortunate collaborations (Silver Screen Shower Scene with Felix Da Housecat and the wonderful Rippin' Kittin with Golden Boy) that led to modest success, she embarked on a solo career. After four years from an unremarkable but still appreciable debut, Batbox is released.
However, the album has a small flaw, as like its predecessor, the kitty cannot sustain a full LP, getting lost among fillers and somewhat boring songs.
Indeed, while there are truly pleasant tracks to listen to, such as the Dark-Techno (more Techno than Dark) of Kittin Is High, the disturbing and muffled atmospheres of Wash'N'Dry which also get corrupted (Metalhead), and the more Pop and carefree episodes like Playmate Of The Century and Batbox, there are also songs that, although not bad, end up being rather bland. Songs that go nowhere like Solidasarockstar and Grace or that end up revolving around themselves, such as Sunset Strip.
The album is not bad, although due to some tracks, it is a bit boring at times and it's a pity because there are convincing songs. Had it been an EP, it would have been notable for sure. A pity.
