Born in San Francisco and raised in an environment influenced by the 'summer of love', Miranda Lee Richards was discovered by Anton Newcombe and was briefly part of the Brian Jonestown Massacre. She released her solo debut The Herethereafter (Virgin Records, 2001) and later the album Existential Beast (Invisible Hands Music), recorded with producer Rick Parker.

DeBaser's review praises Miranda Lee Richards' album Existential Beast as an elegant psychedelic-folk record with political and personal themes. The album was recorded with producer Rick Parker and released on Invisible Hands Music; it follows her earlier solo debut The Herethereafter (Virgin, 2001). Tracks range from pastoral folk to rock-leaning songs and draw comparisons to Nico, Vashti Bunyan and Linda Perhacs.

For:Fans of psychedelic folk, singer-songwriters, listeners of 60s-70s influenced music and DeBaser readers.

One of the best American folk and female singer-songwriter albums of recent years, and its particularity is that it does not come unexpectedly given the various high-level works this artist has now accustomed us to.
