The Miosis is a young Swedish quintet that plays excellent alternative metal seasoned with progressive and post-rock influences.
In 2009, they released "Albedo Adaptation" with Lion Music, one of the pleasant surprises of this year!
The album presents a very compact sound, alternating moments of tranquility (with fairly experimental sounds) with engaging metallic riffs. Noteworthy is the precise work done by the rhythm section, which, like the vocals, at times recalls Tool and A Perfect Circle, although they have yet to reach the levels of Maynard & Co.
The standout tracks in this work are the closing "Red" which takes us on a journey for its entire duration, lasting over 11 minutes, "Once Divine" which starts with an excellent guitar riff and wraps us in a fantastic melody, "Flow" where bass and drums stand out from beginning to end.
In conclusion, Miosis's debut truly deserves both to be listened to and purchased, and I will definitely keep an eye on them with the hope to see them grow even more in the future!
The cover is also beautiful!
The band members are:
