THE REVIEW

What can I say, we all (hopefully) listen to a lot of music in the hope that every once in a while (and it does happen) we find a miracle. A feeling like: it's been a long time since I've listened to new things, it would be time to find a CD that stays in my library... until at some point your brain lights up and you say "yes, this is a great album!!!"

I had never listened to Minus The Bear and today during my lunch break, I played their latest (third) album "Planet Of Ice" on my Mp3 player. I won't waste time describing the individual tracks (10) because I don't want to take away the pleasure of discovery. However, we can say that the Seattle quintet has created an original blend that can be summarized as follows:

The freshness and catchiness of Franz Ferdinand, the rhythm of Editors, the depth and melody of the most recent progressive similar to Porcupine Tree.

The 10 tracks flow pleasantly, with synthesizer, bass, and drums weaving patterns with rhythm changes where the guitars play a discontinuous yet incisive role. The voice is very reminiscent of John Wetton (former King Crimson and Asia), also very pleasant.
