Hello guys,
today we will talk about Mina and much more specifically about 'Cremona', an album of striking crystalline brilliance produced in 1996 and in my opinion, the most beautiful album of the decade for this ALL-ROUND SINGER.
We were tired of hearing Mina sings Lucio, Mina sings Sinatra, Mina sings etc., etc., etc., in short, do we want to listen to something different? And here comes 'Cremona', high-level made-in-Italy music with nuances that touch Funk, Jazz, Rock, Samba, Salsa and the more the merrier, with a brass section and choirs that give you goosebumps, not to mention the rhythm section with an ever-reliable right-hand bassist Massimo Moriconi who gives his best on Dottore, the second track of the album where he duets with Mina alongside Beppe Grillo supervocalsmegastars… moving to track number 04 in Musica Per Lui we hear a solo by Danilo Rea on the piano (also this one, a top-level jazz musician) that slow but tight funk/jazz reminiscent of those smoky clubs where you met more blacks than whites, skipping to track number 05 La Bacchetta Magica a sambary and warm sound… makes me want to have a Mojito.
The only flaw of the album personally speaking is track number 06 a remake of Ricominciamo (perhaps Pappalardo is better) but with good distorted guitars. In short, Mina with a chilling vocal potential, an excellent product to put on the market with 5 stars 'Cremona' that is: "how to reduce a man to bare essentials" you may ask why, the answer lies in the lyrics….. so what are you waiting for to listen to it!
