Michael Rutherford (born 2 October 1950) is an English musician, a founding member of Genesis, known as a bassist and guitarist and founder of Mike + The Mechanics.

Rutherford released solo albums including Smallcreep's Day (1980) and Acting Very Strange (1982). He is publicly known as a long-time member of Genesis and co-founder of Mike + The Mechanics.

 If the cover of the previous LP was a fine piece by the Hipgnosis studio, the one for "Acting Very Strange" is decidedly much less interesting; to be honest, it's horrible, and the Mike with a straw hat and tank top should be the first warning about the album's content.
