Midlake is an American band formed in Denton, Texas. They released Bamnan and Slivercork (2004), The Trials of Van Occupanther (2006), The Courage of Others (2010) and Antiphon (2013). Tim Smith was the band's lead singer on early albums; Antiphon was recorded after his departure with Eric Pulido taking a leading role.

Reviewed DeBaser pieces note a shift from 2000s folk-rock to 1960s/1970s-inspired psychedelic sounds; lineup change (Tim Smith's departure) occurred before Antiphon (2013).

Three DeBaser reviews cover Midlake's key albums across their career. Critics note a move from 2000s folk-rock to darker, more homogeneous and 60s/70s-inspired psychedelia. Overall reception in these reviews is appreciative but reserved.

For:Fans of 1960s/1970s psychedelic and folk-rock, listeners of indie/alternative folk and melancholic singer-songwriter music.

With "The Courage Of Others", the Texans Midlake attempt to ensure no one misses that masterpiece "The Trials Of Van Occupanther", which caught everyone's attention.
