The Profile

British rock musician, singer, journalist, and author. Frontman of the Deviants in the late 1960s and later a solo artist with cult releases including Mona The Carnivorous Circus (1970) and Vampires Stole My Lunch Money (1978). He was also a noted music journalist and novelist.

Frontman of the Deviants (aka Social Deviants); active from the late 1960s; wrote for the New Musical Express; died in July 2013.

Two reviews chart Mick Farren from the fractured, tape-spliced chaos of Mona The Carnivorous Circus to a bruising 2004 Tokyo show. The album piece highlights cut‑ups, spoken word, and guests like Twink, John Gustafson, and Paul Buckmaster; the concert report laments a rough night on stage. Overall tone: affectionate but unsparing.
