A LETTER FROM TEXAS

The voice of Micah P. Hinson is a burnished mirror reflecting the experiences of his life; pain, love, drugs, prison, and bad luck emerge sincerely and heavily from the tracks of his second album.
His reality is that of Abilene, Texas, the dusty boredom that suffocates the soul and the hypocritical routine that insinuates itself solemnly and seriously into the life choices of any family, as if it were the suburb of any Italian city.

M.P.H. is in a perpetual escape, chemical or physical, towards a happiness that is surely near but remains invisible and elusive in daily reality, and worse still, even in fantasy, a victim of indifference, a ghost.

"Micah P. Hinson And The Opera Circuit" is a rich and profound album, personal and mature, Micah's voice at just 24 years old is seasoned to perfection, his tone is certainly comparable to Leonard Cohen or other great authors.

"Micah P. Hinson And The Opera Circuit" takes us back to summer evenings with a gaze at the horizon, the autumn, "Seems Almost Impossible" is sweet and intimate, classic, the prairie ballad, "Letter from Huntsville" blends the musical approach of Bonnie Prince Billy and the atmosphere of the Tindersticks, "You're Only Lonely", a sunny ballad that ends in an epic crescendo of guitars, "It's Been So Long" sings of time that never passes, an alcoholic waltz, "Drift Off To Sleep" highlights the incredible vocal maturity of Micah and makes one reflect on his future, "Little Boys Dream" is just voice and strings that enhance each other, "Diggin' A Grave" recalls the gypsy settings of Goran Bregovic mixed with the dust of Texas, "Don't Leave Me Now!" is a mezereon lullaby, poison and perfume, the end of love and the closure of the album.

After the first album, someone said that Micah P. Hinson is the heir of Johnny Cash, for me Micah is a splendid reality, between past and future, between joy and pain, a secret to be well kept.

"I would give away all my new shoes just to rest my cheek on your heart now, and then sleep."
