Once again, Poland brings us good Black Metal, not too underground, with "Groza" by Mgla. The only Full-Length released by the band, with "Northern Heritage", came out on August 13, 2008. With a duration of 36:27 minutes and composed of 4 tracks, it is another enigmatic album; besides, it is Black Metal but has Suicide influences, and I'm not just talking about the music itself: the themes addressed are indeed Satanism and Suicide.
A peculiarity of this album is the lack of track naming: in fact, they all take the name from the album, with the addition of Roman numerals up to 4.
"Groza I" is slower and perhaps less rhythmic than the following (in my opinion truly beautiful) "Groza II", in which, aside from showing greater aggression compared to its predecessor, the voice is more prominent, approaching the Old School canons of the beginnings of Black. The third track starts with a captivating intro and proceeds very well, perhaps the most beautiful song on the entire album. The finale is given by "Groza IV", which returns roughly to the scheme of the first track.
In short, the album leaves no doubt about being very convincing. Anyone who loves Black cannot help but listen to it, as it is not too difficult to listen to the album: good and non-repetitive music, an excellent rhythm (in this regard, compliments to the drummer for the work done, in every track the timing is perfect), clean recording and, above all, perfect both voice and lyrics.
