The album of betrayal, the pinnacle of Metallica's musical career: these are the dominant and contrasting opinions following the release of the Black Album, so named because of its completely black cover, even though the original title is Metallica.
The Black Album is undoubtedly one of the most contested albums in history due to the musical shift undertaken by Metallica, who move from devastating thrash metal to a more reasoned and listenable hard rock, although there are ties to the past in the album.

It is the work that catapults the four horsemen towards worldwide fame, bringing their sensational music even to the homes of those who find it hard to digest metal.
This is because it contains some immediately appreciable tracks, very catchy, capable of hitting the listener right from the first time, without needing other listens for the song to be liked.

After this brief introduction, let's move on to the tracks of the album, which starts with the dark and amazing Enter Sandman, one of Metallica's masterpieces, then moves to Sad but True, another memorable song for the power and fury in James’s voice.
The third track is Holier Than Thou, one of the fastest and most overwhelming songs on the album. For the fourth song, the title says it all: The Unforgiven, a half-ballad capable of engaging like few songs with its alternation of power and sweetness, with James being exceptional for sincerity and vocal ability.
Next is Wherever I May Roam, another exceptional interpretation, and Don't Tread on Me, strange but still good. It's the turn of Through The Never, fast and powerful, reconnecting Metallica to the past. After this harsh song begins Metallica's true ballad, Nothing Else Matters, sweet and with truly enviable lyrics in the hard rock realm, a song that rightfully enters the best of all-time music. The last four tracks are, in order: Of Wolf And Man, for which the same can be said as for Through The Never, The God That Failed, My Friend of Misery where bassist Jason goes above and beyond, and finally The Struggle Within, with a great intro but the classic filler title, probably the only one.

Below, I try to give a rating to each song so that one can appreciate the beauty of this album, ratings range from 0 to 10:
01 - Enter Sandman 8.5
02 - Sad But True 8
03 - Holier Than Thou 7
04 - The Unforgiven 9
05 - Wherever I May Roam 8
06 - Dont Tread On Me 6.5
07 - Through The Never 7
08 - Nothing Else Matters 9.5
09 - Of Wolf And Man 7
10 - The God That Failed 7
11 - My Friend Of Misery 7.5
12 - The Struggle Within 6.5

I hope reading my review has been helpful for you to get an idea of this album, which I clearly judge to be exceptional for the variety and quality that musically characterizes it.
