Kiko Dinucci is a passionate researcher of Afro-Brazilian religion. As a musician, he decided to dig deeper into the roots, beyond samba and even beyond the majority of the current candomblé rhythms, bringing to light a rhythmic complexity and making it his own.
Kiko is a great guitarist, he plays every week in a simple venue in São Paulo and attends a lot of concerts, not stadium ones; he wants to understand the scene, sniff out the new, seek the most singular, free, and spontaneous artists.
Juçara Marçal and Kiko then meet, they play, make songs, it works. But it's not enough, it's never enough, because from this meeting on there will be a continuous evolution, which begins with the entry of the third element, Thiago França, an exceptional wind player.
Metá Metá is born, in my opinion, the best and most important group in Brazil today, and even more.
Recorded spontaneously in just three hours, MM3 contains within itself a surprising musical language for the quality of the elements with which it is composed. It is absolutely Brazilian music but also global, African ancestry, song form, rock power, sprinkles of free jazz. But also none of that, it's Metá Metá, it's the old that becomes new and I am happy.
A very strong alchemy, a feitiço, a macumba... be careful!
