Perhaps not everyone knows that the good Merzbow, in addition to being super busy with music, is very dedicated to animal rights causes.
This is one of his protest albums and it is directed against the annual dolphin massacre in Taiji, Japan.
He offers us just over an hour (divisible into three parts) of aggressive and deafening Noise, with shattering glass and sirens that remind us of the sound of dolphins.
For many, it will be just "noise," but for those who are interested, I strongly ask and recommend listening to it as the soundtrack of a chase: creatures in danger fleeing with utmost speed from a fleet of ships on the ocean... so you can feel the noise of the poor marine mammals moving through the water, guaranteed.
Inside the album, you can find a short essay written by Paul Watson, the founder of Sea Shepherd.
The cover was even voted one of the worst of all 2008, yet it’s cute (and it's the work of Mrs. Merzbow!).
