THE REVIEW

A few months after "This War Will Last Forever," the new and third album by Mendeed is released.

The Scottish band has opted for a much less crossover writing than what was on the previous album. Or rather, it is limiting the scope of action and style, as it moves between classic heavy metal (quite a bit), melodic death metal (equally), new metal (in sufficient doses), thrash metal (a little bit), and metal-core (just enough to be in).

However, the game ends here because there is no trace of ambient influences anymore, and the instrumental and/or vocal combinations are standardized and less bold compared to the past. The work is well interpreted, but it must be clear that the objective has changed, and the primary interest of Mendeed has become to compose catchy songs (let's even say mainstream) in an unabashed manner, often even predictable, and sacrificing the desire to experiment.

Summary by Bot

Mendeed's third album, The Dead Live By Love, takes a less experimental approach than the previous release. The band focuses on mainstream, catchy metal songs blending several metal subgenres but sacrifices boldness and innovation. The result is a predictable and standardized album. While well played, it lacks the adventurous spirit of earlier works.
