Memories Of A Lost Soul, a name that guarantees Reggio Calabria, but not only... The historical/biographical references I defer to the official website of the group, of which I have put the link below, here I talk about what I think is their best demo, and in general about their music.
We are talking about a fairly famous group, enough to open for Hammerfall. Active for many years on the Italian and French underground scene, from the deep south comes this Swedish/death band with great character. I have seen them live more than once (with the old and historical lineup) and I must say they are really worth it, now they have changed the lineup, and I have not yet had the pleasure to see them again. This demo contains excellent classics of their initial compositional freshness. MOALS are strong, and very much so, led by the indomitable (but also slightly megalomaniac) Buzz, the true soul of the group, (composer, front-man, singer, and lead guitarist). In 1998, they released this "The Clockwork". Pure Swedish death metal imbued with classical nuances, splashes of symphonic black, and a good dose of melody appropriately balanced with the brutality of the growl voice (always Buzz) and Malmsteen-like guitar solos, performed by Buzz himself. I'm not a fan of the genre, but the qualities of this demo CD have captivated me, at least for the group in question. Excellent performance by these guys and we hope they can become more known and represent the Italian underground. It all begins with that drum intro followed by a hypnotic bass to which a quick and brief guitar solo and a "yeah" (strictly growled) are soon added and shortly after the joyful pogo can begin, kicking off the dance, and leading you into a fantastic psycho/death visionary journey.
In another dimension, that of the MOALS.
