THE REVIEW

The Melvins.
The epitome of homemade doom: take 150g of Black Sabbath, 10g of Hendrix, 60g of the Stooges and mix it all with vintage horror films finely ground.
Slow down the cooking to unpronounceable lows and the dish is served. A dish surely indigestible...

The sounds of his majesty King Buzzo emerge approximately in this way with Houdini, this time a bit well-known and predictable but still pleasant listening considering that on drums there's an executioner whom I greatly appreciate, named Dale Crover.
The peculiarity of this work, in my opinion, lies in the production, which also involves Kurt Cobain (a Melvins groupie) in the recording of tracks like "Sky Pup", a little fairy tale for children possessed by the devil, and "Spread Eagle Beagle" where he even takes the drums (his first instrument).

Ultimately a nightmare album. Very beautiful "Night Goat", "Lizzy" and "Going Blind".

It is impossible to label Houdini, just like every other album of theirs, because it is a music that only they know how to play.

Hooch, a new classic of the group, as well as one of the singles that most harkens back to their earliest works.
