Published back in 1991, Eggnog is certainly a key chapter in the history of the Melvins. The presence of harsh distortions bordering on the most abrasive and challenging Noise, accompanied by the tentacular section of Sir Crover, make this unusual ten-inch work a jewel of declined beauty.

It begins with Wispy, where the vortex unleashed by the trio Buzzo-Lorax-Crover ends just when it's getting good, not even a second to catch our breath, and shocks of vitriol-tinged Trash stun us while the world keeps turning and we forget we're on it. This is Antitoxidote; now we're ready for Hog Leg, where King Buzzo sings in a delightful demonic falsetto. The strings of the instruments become sharp and unleash subsabbathian riffs, cymbals and skins become incandescent. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Melvins. Closing the first side, bow your heads and kneel before this cult; in these next 12 minutes and 50 seconds, you're alone, and nothing is more real, the emptiness of time is lost as you're engulfed by this veil.

I have no words, words no longer suffice, there's nothing to say as the drums accompany us through this mesmerizing tunnel. The screams echo in our temples, every bass note is a stab to the stomach, and the rite continues without pretentious or manneristic additions, slower and slower, yet you must believe that God is one thing, Melvins.
