THE REVIEW

Dear guys, I'm andreus90 and I'm presenting to you the true last masterpiece of Megadeth, Rust In Peace. This album achieved great success thanks to the two songs Holy Wars and especially Hangar 18, the true tracks that kick ass.

At the time, Megadeth consisted of Dave Mustaine on vocals and guitar, Marty Friedman on lead guitar, Ellefson on bass, and finally Nick Menza on drums. Labeled by Capitol Records, this was one of Megadeth's greatest successes, Rust In Peace. It opens with Holy Wars, beautifully written by Mustaine, and it was one of the biggest hits, very fast, with a beautiful and bloody video showing scenes of war and maimed people in distress while Mustaine and company play the big hit. The second is Hangar 18, stunning. In this track, it almost feels like there's a duet of guitar solos between Friedman and Mustaine - truly tough. Take No Prisoner, what can I say, a fast song and nothing else, followed by Five Magic, repeating I Master Of Five Magic which practically means the master of the five most important elements of the earth, like electricity and blah blah blah.

And here comes Poison Was The Cure, very unsettling at first but it explodes after Dave's first verses, very fast but with a limited duration. Then there's Lucretia ahahahahahah, one of my favorite tracks from the album, less fast compared to the others, and it talks about this Lucretia, a witch who hypnotizes Mustaine with her words... Dave you're mental anyway. Tornado Of Soul, wonderful, performed in many live shows by the band, followed by Dawn Patrol, sung differently from the others but it doesn't attract me much - in fact, it's the worst piece of the album. The last track is Rust In Peace...Polaris opened with a double bass burst by Nick Menza, followed by a fast solo by Friedman and completed by Mustaine with his voice, continuing on the usual fast rhythm like the other tracks, of course.

What else to say, stunning Speed/Thrash Metal album for the old Megadeth, absolutely to have in your discography as soon as possible for those who do not already own it, also available in remastered version with bonus tracks. Let me know if you liked my first review, thanks, bye, see you next time metal4ever.

Megadeth's Rust In Peace is a masterpiece that marked the era of thrash metal.

Hangar 18 is the thrash metal experience that shattered the world, leaving believers of true metal on one side and fools on the other.

In my opinion, this is not only an album that represents the quintessence of 80s thrash metal, but also one of the best heavy metal albums.

Nothing is wasted here. It’s all perfect, incredible but true.

Marty Friedman is indeed the winning element of this album: his astounding solos are a testament to his flawless compositional technique and versatility.

Perfection doesn’t exist, but I am tempted to attribute it to this album.

Rust In Peace, a pivotal album in the global metal movement in 1990, is one of those works whose importance is difficult to fully describe.

Chris Poland records stunning solos that make the rest of the band shine, unfolding scales and unpredictable phrasings with a unique flair.
