Since quick reviews are trending lately....

A few weeks ago, this new Megadeth track was released for free download on the Roadrunner site, their record label. This track will be part of the new album, scheduled for early autumn, titled "Endgame."

The track is surprisingly positive, considering Mustaine and company's recent sleep-inducing efforts. The new lead guitarist Chris Broderick, formerly of Jag Panzer and Nevermore, stands out in particular. His style inevitably calls to mind a certain Marty Friedman who featured on the undisputed masterpiece of the Californian thrashers, obviously I'm talking about "Rust In Peace."

Fast tempos, fast solos but with an excellent melodic component and a rhythm section that takes no prisoners.

Perhaps this time the Megadeth will truly give us an album worthy of their past.

Moreover, just this afternoon I listened to a new track titled "1,420," a midtempo in the style of "Countdown To Extinction" which can only heighten expectations for this new work.

What can I say, I'm increasingly optimistic. Unlike Slayer, I'd say there are all the reasons to be optimistic.
