Mecánica Clásica ‎– Mar Interior (Abstrakce Records 2021)

Genre: Ambient, Electronic

Originating from Spain, Mecánica Clásica can be considered a sort of "supergroup" (all members are from other bands): Fernando Junquera (aka Negro) on the guitar synth, Alex Verdú, Joni Kosmos, and Juanvi Fortea on various synthesizers.

The music of the four retraces ambient, electronic, minimalist paths, in the vast maps drawn by pioneers such as Brian Eno, Cluster, Jon Hassell, Klaus Schulze; but beware, this is not Berlin and its cosmic school. Magnificent sound waves are glimpsed on Mediterranean shores, ancient, mystical.

The inner sea of the Valencian group draws from the rich culture of Mare nostrum in eight tracks that sound both futuristic and mythological. Dynamic guitar modulations merge with vigorous sequences of synth and unusual percussions. Musically, the band is recognized for its ability to blend spatial sounds with popular harmonies and tones. The rhythms, gently throbbing, develop hypnotic atmospheres, engaging and expressive like the environmental sounds of the world.

"Litoral De Roca" begins the journey with Tangerine Dream spices, while on the more rhythmic "Hemeroskopeion," Can hover, the ethnic beauty of "Desade Mañana" makes us imagine Thomas Dinger, the mourned drummer of Neu!, flirting with Finis Africae. “Ak Deniz” and “Orillas Opuestas” sound like perfect soundtracks for journeys over distant and mysterious seas.
