A cult group, historically significant for what can be defined as porno grind, Meat Shits is the brainchild of Robert Deathrage, the only permanent member. From its inception to today, they have embraced various musical genres starting from grind, offering bizarre techno-kitsch remixes, touching on noise, and eventually adopting strong black metal connotations, but always with an explicit and constant reference to pornography.
They define themselves as brown metal (a reference to fecal matter? who knows!) but we don't really care. The CD in question was originally released by Wild Rags on cassette (which I thank for gifting us with authentic pearls and milestones like Nuclear Death and Impetigo), it consists of 43 tracks in 44 minutes with the first two tracks lasting 10 minutes. Of all their works, I consider this one the least successful: the album is rather monotonous, no track particularly stands out, what they call "Side Fuck" - the first six tracks - drags on wearily with tracks that are too long and monotonous for a group that offers the rawest and simplest grind. The CD picks up with "Side Suck" with faster and shorter grind/noisecore style tracks, but overall, the improvement is marginal.
The cover is amusing, appearing to be drawn by a kid (actually Mr. Deathrage) indulging in pornographic drawings for his masturbatory pleasures. Though mediocre, it is a historically important work that I can only recommend to fans of the group or to those wishing to document themselves on this genre (?). To others, I recommend "Ecstasy of Death," "Violence Against Feminist Cunts," and above all "Sniper at the Fag Parade," true Masterpieces.
