The Profile

McAuley-Schenker Group was the late-’80s/early-’90s collaboration between guitarist Michael Schenker and vocalist Robin McAuley. The band issued three studio albums—Perfect Timing (1987), Save Yourself (1989), and MSG (1991)—and the live release Unplugged "Live" (1992), blending AOR sheen with hard-rock power before disbanding in the early 1990s.

Core members: Michael Schenker (guitar) and Robin McAuley (vocals). Lineups also featured Rocky Newton (bass), Bodo Schopf (drums), Steve Mann (guitars/keyboards), Jeff Pilson (bass), and James Kottak (drums). Studio albums: Perfect Timing (1987), Save Yourself (1989), MSG (1991).

Two DeBaser reviews chart the McAuley-Schenker Group’s arc: an AOR/hair-metal leaning debut with Perfect Timing and a harder-edged, ballad-rich finale on MSG. The writeups spotlight lineup changes (McAuley, Schenker, Newton, Schopf, later Pilson and Kottak) and track highlights from Gimme Your Love to Never Ending Nightmare. Overall tone: appreciative of songwriting, vocals, and Schenker’s solos.
