I find myself reviewing the first work of this 26-year-old Berlin guy (then 23 years old), after listening to it attentively, and I can't help but notice its "beauty".
They are just simply love songs, love and then more love.
A romantic and dreamy essence, between acoustic and dark pop atmospheres reminiscent of Jeff Buckley... these are the distinctive features of this debut.
A "street-born" character, with a warm and enveloping voice (sometimes too "sugary"), a frequenter of cultural circles and also a model... this is the life experience that has shaped a musical and artistic character finding expression in these beautiful 12 intriguing and intimate ballads in the truest sense.
A work that contains the right dose of eclecticism, an indie distillate made of ballads and aggressive numbers, with kitsch arrangements and distorted guitars.
Songs like "The Days Are Long And Filled With Pain" or "Flower Four" hint at the ghosts of Lennon and co., while tracks like "Sunburnt Days" or "Like Them" explore horizons first pop, then acoustic and intimate.
All of Maximilian's creative flair finds expression in the endless and alternating "Cold Wind Blowing," a piece over seven minutes long that transitions from acoustic to cultivated pop atmospheres to disconnected and driven strumming.
An album perhaps a bit too acoustic, introspective, and intense; a gamble to be made for the Berlin author, so why not believe in it too and give it a listen.
You won't be disappointed... recommended but only for connoisseurs.

08 Flower Four (03:09)
All that grief in my teeth
And all this running for love
No, I can't stand anymore
That your sweet eyes don't watch me
And I believe in no gods
But what leads me to you?
And so I'll start to love your face
And in the end I will love you
So I'll play just this song
And maybe I've been wrong
So I'll play just this song
But what if you are gone?
So take me home
