LA RECENSIONE

Sometimes all it takes is a song. A song convinces, seduces, attracts; it is a siren that with its song draws you towards it and never lets you go. I encountered a song last night. And it was beautiful.

Its name: Figlia. Who conceived it? Max Gazzè in the company of the Magical mystery band. What makes it so special? The vision of a father who, seeing his daughter grow up, is overwhelmed by nostalgia. Only my closest friends know what my greatest wish was during my high school years: to have a daughter. It was the push that got me out of bed every day, a reason I had to keep going, and today it's a bit funny to think about how much I relied on someone who didn't exist. What I wanted was someone to tell me that the night lasts for two days and to whom I could tell tales of fairies, whom I find every morning having breakfast in the kitchen, who runs her fingers along the pylons while we're on the highway, and who makes me witness to a wonder, her life journey. In the last 80 instrumental seconds, I fall asleep with the thought of a desired daughter... Desirée

Max Gazzé

Italian singer-songwriter and bassist from Rome. In these reviews he’s repeatedly described as a refined, idea-rich pop-rock author with a strong focus on arrangements and lyrics often co-written with his brother Francesco Gazzé, and as an artist frequently seen as underrated by the mainstream.
