LA RECENSIONE

I haven't yet delved into the discography of Mau Mau nor do I know if I will, given that their genre doesn't really intrigue me (also it's difficult for me to understand their lyrics), but I liked this album (very much a party: beautiful "Ellis Island") and I want to recommend it to you, especially since it hasn't been reviewed on DeBaser.

Born in the early '90s in Turin, the ultimate multi-ethnic Italian city, Mau Mau express themselves in different languages, sounds, and genres, alternating lyrics in Piedmontese dialect, Italian, English, Spanish, and French, blending sounds from the Mediterranean, Latin America, the Orient, and Africa, and mixing rock with folk, dub with hip hop, ethno with singer-songwriter music, acoustic with electric, with tribal...

Society is now transforming into a mixture of races and cultures: it is in this context that the so-called "acoustic tribe" of Mau Mau and their "World-Etno-Music" are born, reaching excellent levels in this album, "Viva Mama Nera", from 1996. Furthermore, here, to the original lineup, composed of Luca Morino (guitar and vocals), Fabio Barovero (accordion), and Cameroonian Tatè (percussions), other elements are added, with the inclusion of brass, violin, electric bow, and drums.

I especially recommend this to lovers of the genre who, I believe, can discover a little gem.
