THE REVIEW

Captured and intrigued by the definitions, the desire to define arose in me as well, but unfortunately Massimo Coppola is missing from the site's archive. He is not only a television host but also a director and writer, so here I am sharing another good program to testify that you have to know how to watch TV. If you really want to seek ideas, insights, and perhaps solace even in a shamelessly corrupted medium, something good does exist, or rather, did exist.

Let it be clear that I am referring to the edition hosted by Massimo Coppola. In the future, others like Alex Infascelli, the director of "H2Odio", and Frankie Hi NRG, among possibly others whom I hope will forgive me if they ever read this review, have also ventured into the endeavor, but I do not recall them. Coppola, with his "brand:new", showed that Mtv and thus what it represented and still represents, namely the youth, also knew how to think. An hour of delightful music clips precede or follow 360° capsules from the host, always accompanied by a form of sarcasm that is not sharp but always well-directed. Let me clarify. A young, touchy, and indifferent person, perhaps not even aware that a human being can develop their intellectual universe, might feel offended or simply not understand it. Contemporary philosophy with a language accessible to all.

I might be wrong, but to me, he is the right kind of guy.

The music spun by the program was as alternative as one could find in those years in the realm of music intended for the general public. It wasn't bad.

To get an idea about the program, I recommend watching the clips available on YouTube. I'll send you a nice one to start with.

Summary by Bot

Massimo Coppola's Brand:New was a standout MTV program that combined alternative music with insightful, accessible reflections on culture. The host’s subtle sarcasm and intellectual approach set it apart from typical youth TV. The show demonstrated that MTV could be thoughtful and meaningful, offering solace and ideas despite the corrupted media landscape. Highly recommended for those seeking smart music TV from that era.
