Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and let the music drag you into a whirlwind of devastation.

What the French band Massacra offers in this "Enjoy The Violence" is pure and intensely violent Death Metal of great quality, with highly inspired songwriting. But let's take a brief biographical note. Massacra was born in France, precisely in Franconville in the distant 1986, originally composed of Fred Duval and Jean Marc Trisani on guitars, Pascal Jorgensen on bass and vocals and Chris Palengat on drums. From 1987 to 1989, they recorded their first earth-shaking demos, until, in 1990, they released their first seminal Full-length "Final Holocaust". The following year one of the most underrated Death Metal albums ever was released, precisely the devastating "Enjoy The Violence". From the opener, the title track, it's clear what our guys will offer throughout the rest of the album, an extremely violent Death Metal played with skill and good technical level. If I had to mention the best song on the album, I would certainly indicate the extraordinary "Ultimate Antichrist", as direct as it is violent, a pleasant barrage with frenzied drumming and wonderfully inspired riffs. All the songs are of excellent level, let's not forget to mention the beautiful solo of "Atrocious Crimes" and the iconoclastic fury of "Sublime Extermination". As for the lyrics, it may seem trivial, but the main theme is precisely violence, and from an album like this, it was to be expected. Special mention for the closing song "Agonizing World", which deals with the pollution ruining the world, without humanity taking the slightest precaution.

Comparing this album to one written by a more renowned group is not simple; Massacra has a personal sound, but "Morbidangelian" influences and of the early Sepultura can be discerned. It's not easy to write a review that fully conveys how engaging this album is; it absolutely must be heard. A must of Old School Death Metal, comparable to the masterpieces of the genre, but unfortunately much underrated. Try listening to it, every fan of violent Metal cannot deprive themselves of such a beautiful album.
