LA RECENSIONE

The second single of the album “The Blue God” by Martina Topley Bird, “Poison”, is incredible in how an artist not very mainstream manages to create a pop noir song in great 60s style.

“Poison” is a vibrant, dark, mischievous, and seductive love song gone very wrong. Martina enchants you like a seductive Nina Simone or Billie Holiday, as the music sways to a melody imposed on electronic pop/rock. Producer Brian Burton, aka Danger Mouse, has done an excellent job on the track alongside multi-instrumentalist Josh Klinghoffer, with a sound that greatly resembles Goldfrapp.

Besides “Poison”, there is a remix version “Poison Van She Remix”, another remix “Poison The Official Remix”, an instrumental version “Poison Instrumental”, and finally “Poison live”, making a total of 5 tracks.

In my opinion, the Van She remix version is the most beautiful, very techno. So, what are you waiting for? Go to Martina’s MySpace page or her website.
