THE REVIEW

It has been 5 years since the solo debut of Martina Topley Bird, the former vocalist of Tricky.

Now Martina is returning with a new album entitled "The Blue God" which can be described with one word: divine.

Her first single is "CARNIES", a phenomenal pop creation in collaboration with the famous producer Danger Mouse of Gnarls Barkley and Josh Klinghoffer. Martina sings like a goddess the lyrics of "CARNIES": Ferris Wheels and Cotton Candy - Carnies have come to town, and the musical part is a joy for the ears but its composition is very simple: piano, bass, guitar, synthesizer, keyboard, and finally Martina's mellifluous voice. Besides "CARNIES", there are two wonderful b-sides "AT SEA" & "TRUST ME".

Martina is re-emerging as one of the most interesting pop prospects of 2008. I hope she conquers our Italian hearts and those of everyone around the world because she truly deserves to be praised far more than Britney Spears and Leona Lewis, Martina's new album is a classy noir pop with a sprinkle of 60s style.
