Marta Sui Tubi Live @ San Donà di Piave (VE), Festival Acustica
The atmosphere is special, the setting is almost enchanted, and dim lights color the stage immersed in nature at the Acustica Festival in San Donà di Piave –Ve-. Several groups have performed on stage this evening: the "Amyr" from Puglia, the Tuscan "Antidotum Tarantualae," and the Venetian singer-songwriter Giorgio Barbarotta.
Scene changes and the wait between one group and another are each time brightened by the sweet voice of "Serena." Everything strictly acoustic. However, the protagonists of the evening are once again they: the Marta sui Tubi. Accompanied by some persistent drops of rain, which unfortunately began to fall just when it was their turn to take the stage but ultimately contributed even more to underline this strange but pleasant atmosphere, they began their show. Shorter compared to the previous performances of the group I've attended, but always, in any case, intense and full of emotions. The evening is about to end, and with frantic rhythms and incandescent melodies, the MST revitalize spirits. This abstract and imaginary, but so real journey they take us on, is composed through some of the group's best songs including "Vecchi Difetti", "L’abbandono", "Muscoli e dei", "Post", "Stitichezza Cronica", and "Sei dicembre".
A blend of different rhythms, rock, blues, indie, and punk. Moments of spectacle and fun are not lacking when the notes of Black Betty start to resonate in the air, or when they humorously say goodbye by imitating, let's say, "someone else." Urging the audience to approach the stage, even though unfortunately only a few accept the invitation, they demonstrate once again how essential the contact with those in front of them is, with those who are ultimately there for them. A stolen glance, unspoken words, and the show continues relentlessly, while the rain has gone away and some stars appear in the sky.
The concert seems to have almost become for the few, the atmosphere has taken on the connotations of an intimate gathering among "friends." Once again, I owe them great emotions. The songs slip quickly inside, always leaving a pleasant feeling, and giving you a rather special moment. The musical qualities of the group are, as always, remarkable, both instrumentally and vocally. Despite the outdoor location, which certainly does not guarantee great and optimal acoustics, the concert is perfect, no smudges, no stumbles. As the voice expands, the fingers on the guitar race rapidly, almost imperceptibly. These are sensations, suggestions, and emotions that repeatedly become words, notes, and sounds. I truly hope to appreciate them again as soon as possible.
