"Dedicated to the ecstasy that has united us with the audience during these years of concerts and blazing expressions, surely the most beautiful thing that could happen".
This live album by Marlene Kuntz, as can be read, is dedicated to the group's fans. Let's now analyze the album's title: "H.U.P. = Ho Ucciso Paranoia"; Live = anagram of Vile; Catharsis = Catartica.
The title thus cites the names of their first three works (the most beautiful ones) that are faithfully reproduced in live performances with the addition of some gems that make this CD even more enticing. The catharsis is therefore the element that connects the group and fans in a live setting, and anyone who has attended their concert will agree with me. Some strange dark and obscure noise "becomes" 'Ineluttabile', the band takes the stage to the crowd's acclaim; Cristiano's voice is sharp as the razor he mentions in the song and the chorus is an explosion of anger; in short, a great opener, a rock piece worthy of a ten out of ten. The second track is 'Aurora', that is, an unreleased track (albeit present in the LP "Come Di Sdegno"), and this is also a piece characterized by anger and rocking guitars, in the best marlenean tradition. '1° 2° 3°' follows in the same vein as the previously mentioned tracks, just like the fast and direct 'Il Vile'. When Riccardo's guitar heralds 'Sonica', there is a general explosion from the audience. The version offered here is (if possible) even more explosive than the studio version.
After five all-out tracks, it's time for a little calm, and there is no better piece than 'Nuotando Nell'Aria' to light up lighters and dream. It's a high moment of the live performance. Immediately after, it's Infinità's turn, another track that allows for calming spirits and sweat. We return to more lively rhythms with 'Canzone Di Domani', followed by 'Spora n. 11' (for those who don't know, the Spores are Marlene's instrumental tracks often improvised during recording sessions). Things get serious again with 'Le Putte', practically identical to the studio version, followed by 'Spora n. 42', a little longer (about six minutes) than the previous one; this Spora is practically a crescendo that then explodes with the crazy guitars of Cristiano and Riccardo. 'Questo E Altro' is very hard and heavy, and immediately after, amid the crowd's shouts, we are presented with the epic 'Ape Regina', which is one of the most beautiful rock pieces written by M.K., here present in a particularly hysterical and angry version. 'Una Canzone Arresa' temporarily takes us back to quieter and serene shores, as does the melancholic 'Come Stavamo Ieri'. 'Festa Mesta' would be perfect to close the live, but right after, the group plays 'Lieve', it's a pity, also because the CCCP version is much better. Thus, the live ends in this manner.
All things considered, this album is not bad, but if 'Overflash' or 'Retrattile' were also present, then we'd be talking about a masterpiece by Marlene Kuntz. Another downside for the group is the lack of improvisation (ninety percent of the songs here are identical to the studio versions). Nevertheless, this live demonstrates the technique, anger, and mastery of Marlene Kuntz in a live setting. Recommended for fans of the first era of Marlene.
